Mike Montaño is not a newcomer to the underground music scene. Still, he is a reference to the Mexican talent that has contributed to it. After more than 20 years of DJ career, you can still perceive his passion for the craft and his unrelenting expertise behind the DJ booth.
Living during the “Golden era” of Playa del Carmen allowed him to have a firsthand look at the demanding crowds on the dance floor. As part of the Resident DJ’s of the Legendary Club La Santanera and a regular in line-ups of The BPM Festival, Montaño shared sets and became a regular opener for John Digweed, Marco Carola, Damian Lazarus, Dj Tennis, and Maceo Plex, among others, exporting him to play across South America and Europe.
After being signed by Darren Emerson, his productions gained plays from DJs such as Dj Sneak, Groove Armada and Nick Curly. Other well-known figures in the house, minimal, and jackin house fields helped his productions get traction like his most recent collaborations with Sakro that got the support Thomas Melchior (Perlon), Ryan Crosson, and Jimpster.
