►SCRIPT
So this is one of the routines I did in my World DJ Finals Mix back in 2014, and it’s a DJ routine I still perform to this very day, because it’s just so effective when you wanna surprise and wow a crowd.
So let’s first breakdown the songs we’re going to use;
On the right, on Deck 2, we have Imperial March by John Williams. And this is the exact version of this song I use.
Anyway, here we have 5 cue points.
Cue Point A is at the 9.6 second mark
Cue Point B is at the 14.2 second mark
and
Cue Point C is at the 15.9 second mark
And these 3 cue points comprise our Yeah Rift melody.
Now, Cue Point D is at the 18.8 second mark, and this will act as our visual cue point to know when to mix the next song in, and to also mark where we should beat grid this song.
So when you first download Imperial March, after analysing it, please do 2 more things on it:
Number 1 beat grid it from the 18.8 second mark, and Number 2, label its true BPM which is at 105.
Anyway, our 5th and last cue point, Cue Point E, is at the 26.8 second mark, and this is another visual cue point, and it serves to show us when to stop this track.
Now our second song is Yeah by Usher, and it’s a 32 beat intro extended version of it set to 105 BPM.
And here we only have 1 cue point, which is at the beginning of the extended intro.
So let’s load Yeah by Usher to deck 1, and Imperial March to Deck 2. And since both BPM’s are naturally at 105, we won’t be adjusting our tempo faders.
So the first thing you should do is play Imperial March via Cue Point A, and once you reach its Cue Point D, play the second song.
And be ready to jog wheel it, to make up for any discrepancy.
Now when these two songs play together, the second thing you should do is press Deck 2’s play/pause button once you reach Cue Point E. And once you do that. You’ll hear your track do a slow vinyl break stop.
And once imperial march completely stops, it’ll be time then to do the 3rd part of this routine, the part where we play with Imperials March’s’ tones to sound like the rift on Yeah by Usher.
So to do that iconic melody, trigger deck 2s’ cue points in this sequence:
A, B, A, C
then
A, C, A, B
And trigger this sequence in cadence and in rhythm with Deck 1’s song, for a total of 2 times till we reach the Yeah rift on Deck 1.
