How to Scratch/Cue Drop like a PRO DJ!

This technique of Drop Mixing is mostly used by Hip Hop DJ’s, but is not limited to that genre of music only.

You can use this technique to transition to any genre, and either up or down the BPM scale.

It’s a form of quick mixing, where instead of beat matching,

the DJ focuses their attention into letting the audience know what the next song is by either scratching or cue pointing a certain section of the next song while the current one is playing.

This is to let the audience know that something is about to happen,

Then once a DJ feels that the time is right, the DJ then will either either scratch or cue point the next song in.

Now if you want this technique to really shine when you mix, I highly suggest you guys click on my how to scratch on a controller series. That’ll get you up to speed into being a top DJ who knows all the skills.

We’re going to play a song, then while it’s playing, we’ll either scratch or cue point the next songs first beat, then right before the next measure of the current song starts,

Now, we’ll either scratch or cue point the next song in and we’ll ideally do that right at the 1. And at the same time, we’ll also stop the previous song from playing.

Keep in mind that knowing how to scratch is not. A requirement in order to do this type of transition. You can also drum the next song by pressing it’s cue point.

But if you want to take this technique further, and make it sound really good, you guys gotta do better scratches so here’s an example of me doing a scratch combo with the baby scratch, chirp scratch and stab scratch.
