Leading UK collecting society PRS for Music teams up with world’s biggest dance music magazine for educational panels.

Six livestreamed events will share everything artists need to know to develop their career.

Iconic Judge Jules to speak on ‘Know Your Rights’ on Tuesday 3 October.

PRS for Music and dance music bible, DJ Mag, present ‘INSIGHT’, a free six-part event series that will provide electronic music creators with all the information they need to make headway in the music industry. Launching on Tuesday 3 October, panels will take place on the first Tuesday of every month starting in October through to May.

From knowing how to form a strong team around you, to building a fanbase and making money, each panel will see a range of top experts share skills and knowledge to help music creators develop their careers. The INSIGHT series will be held at DJ Mag’s London headquarters and will also be live-streamed on the magazine’s Facebook page.

INSIGHT kicks off with ‘An Intro to the Business of Dance Music’, an introduction to copyright, royalties and how to protect your music rights. Designed for those starting to think seriously about a career in music, electronic producer and music lawyer Judge Jules, will answer a wide range of questions: Who gets paid on a track? When is the right time to join PRS, MCPS and PPL? What are the rules around sampling and remixing?

Whether a bedroom producer learning the ropes, or an aficionado with a few studio releases under your belt already, throughout the series INSIGHT attendees will hear from a host of experienced artists, DJs and industry professionals from across every area of the music business – labels to live and everything in between.

Topics are set to include: advice on the different organisations artists need to work with to make the right decisions and get the most out of their music; marketing and promotion; mental health and diversity; and an in-depth look into music recognition technology.
