Mad Zoo label boss Mat Zo has long been revered for his ability to fluctuate seamlessly across genres as a sharp producer. From trance to house to techno, Mat Zo has seemingly done it all. His latest EP called ‘This Is A Mad Zoo House’ is a return to his love of club music, with a focus on ‘filter house’ and sampling. Purposefully, and for the sake of the art, Mat has released the EP entirely for free on BitTorrent instead of pursuing cost-prohibiting clearances. “I found all of these samples and loops the old fashioned way, by going to record stares and crate digging,” Mat shares. “I didn’t want to sample the same shit over and over, especially in house music where there’s a kind of sample hall of fame people stick to. I wanted to find obscure samples that I couldn’t find on the internet and try and give them a new breath of life.”
