So I just got the DDJ-200 and I was most surprised by the size of it. This thing is tiny!
But just because this thing is small does not mean this is a bad controller. Believe me, for $150 dollars you’re getting a solid piece of equipment.
What I like most about it is that it can work with your phone, and computer. And the mix you just saw a while ago was done with a computer with Rekordbox DJ software. And as you there, the DDJ-200 is a very capable controller.
Now, comparing it to it’s bigger brother the DDJ-400.
The DDJ-200 is basically the same thing with the most important parts. Jogwheels, volume faders, tempo faders and an eq section. It does miss some other important parts such as an effect section and browse and load section.
But keep in mind that this controller is meant to be used with your phone. So you supplement that lack with that.
Now unfortunately, I own an android phone, so I can’t really test Pioneer’s WeDJ app, that’s why this video is more of a first impressions type of thing.
But from using the DDJ-200 with Rekordbox DJ. Let me just say that the DDJ-200 feels and functions like any professional Pioneer Dj controller. The parts are the same, and the feel is the same as well. Especially those jogwheels.
I personally think that this controller is absolutely the first controller you should buy if you’re a hesitant starting out beginner.
For just $150 dollars, you’re getting a lot. You can test the waters and see if you really like Dj’ing, or really get into DJ’ing and explore the ton of features and functionalitys weDJ and rekordbox Dj offer.
The choice is yours, and hopefully now, it’s an easier one to make 🙂
