Irish born, Berlin-based producer and studio wizard takes us down the rabbit hole for a record breaking attempt at the longest music production livestream!

The Concept
Hybrasil24 is a test of endurance, creativity and improvisation. Over the course of 24 hours, Hybrasil will write, record and produce music live from his HBL Studio space in Berlin, testing the limits of creativity in a confined space for an extended period of time. The best compositions from the live broadcast will be released on the Hybrasil label as a concept release.

The Creative Process
Hybrasil 24 is a 360 creative concept, all writing, recording, sound engineering, production, post-production, mixing and mastering will be conducted by Hybrasil. This process draws from every facet of his recording career, from his time as a sound engineer working with vintage recording consoles to his solo studio works with vintage drum machines, synths and samplers. Monochromatic brings all of these worlds together

ABOUT CHOOSE LOVE

“Choose Love does whatever it takes to provide refugees and displaced people with everything from lifesaving search and rescue boats to food and legal advice. We elevate the voices and visibility of refugees and galvanise public support for agile community organisations providing vital support to refugees along migration routes globally.”

About Hybrasil
Hybrasil learned his craft working as a house engineer at Temple Lane and Grouse Lodge Studios, where he recorded and produced music on NEVE and SSL Consoles across genres such as Blues, Jazz, Folk Music, World Music and Prog Rock. After many years of honing his skills as a sound engineer with a variety of different artists from different backgrounds, work on the Hybrasil live and studio project began.

In 2005 he took up residency as a radio DJ, presenting a late-night 3 deck mix show inspired by The Wizard on WJLB Detroit. It wasn’t long before Hybrasil was picked up by Irish National Radio. A broadcasting career that eventually spanned a total of twelve years.

The Hybrasil live project debuted in 2016. What followed was a series of digital/vinyl releases on his own eponymous label and a number of key performances at festivals and clubs across the continent. His most ambitious project took five years to develop. For this, he wrote a live show entitled ‘Spaces’, performed before Jeff Mills & the National Concert Orchestra at Dublin’s Bord Gais Theatre.

Shortly after moving to Berlin in 2018, he was welcomed into the Rekids family by Radio Slave, debuting on the label with the ‘Afra EP’ and his debut album ‘Embers’. Since joining the label he has picked up a number of mix credits on Rekids as well as embarking on an audio visual collaboration with Tom Hodgkinson of Bristol based design studio ‘Shop’, which has featured on key releases such as We Don’t Flip & Tuatha De Danann. In 2021 Hybrasil joined Carl Cox & Christopher Coe’s Awesome Soundwave, debuting with Dezik EP.
